The Impact of Human Capital Management on Shareholder Value: Effective Communications is a Sound Investment
Jerry Amernic and John Finney

This session will expand on findings from Watson Wyatt’s Human Capital Index showing that Communication Integrity can add to shareholder value. We will outline the important role communications plays in today’s knowledge-based economy by demonstrating how best practices in communications can be a leading indicator of financial performance. We will look at how the business paradigm has changed and how this impacts the way we communicate with employees today. We will also cite other research studies to help build the business case for ‘investing’ in communications. Finally, we will move from theory to practice and look at some specific instances and examples of effective communication – both internal and external.

In this session you will learn:
How communications contributes to effective human capital management and shareholder value
Why it makes sense to invest in communications even during a down economy
The techniques for engaging employees and improving productivity
  Communications case studies involving SARS.
